I’m sure some of you are familiar with this type of internet application but for those who are not we have created this simple guide to help you contribute to Yokohama Living. If you follow the following steps using the images below as a guide you will be ready to post within minutes.

1. Insert a short title here. (This is like a newspaper headline. Try to grab the readers attention.)
2. Write your post here. (If you are going to copy and paste from Word or some other software please select the HTML tab in the top corner rather than the Visual tab. Inserting into the Visual Tab often carries over unnecessary code. After pasting the text you can switch back to Visual if you wish.)
3. Click on the tags section and insert some relevant keywords (eg. if you are talking about a museum you could add the following words: culture, art, painting, exhibition etc.)
4. Click on the Categories and select appropriate categories (one or more).
5. I’ll talk about this one below.
6. You can preview your page at any time using this button.
7. You can save your post here to be completed at a later date or if you think you are ready, you can Submit for Review.

This information helps people find the web site and your article in particular. SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization.

1. This is the most important area as far as search engines are concerned (assuming your article has related content) so it is important to use relevant and descriptive key words.
2. In the description you can add and excerpt from the article of a quick summary of the topic. Less than 160 characters is recommended. Characters, not words.
3. You can copy the tags you have used from the previous post and perhaps add a few more short phrases if you wish.
